Food Truck Friday
Kick off your weekend in the parking lot of The Kansas City Star with food from local food trucks, including Wilma’s Real Good Food, Monk’s Roast Beef, Little Italy KC, El Tenedor KC, ChickHoovenSwine, Drasko’s, The Waffler, Poppy’s Ice Cream & Coffee House, Pip’s Burgers KC, Deco Street Eats, CoffeeCakeKC, and Jones BBQ. The event lasts from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Crossroads Arts District.
BravoKC: Kauffman Center Turns Five, Live!
The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 5th birthday with live music, lawn games, food and specialty cocktails starting at 5 p.m. on the south lawn. The event includes performances by Jessica Page, The Grisly Hand, Hembree and Calvin Arsenia. Be sure to stick around until 9 p.m. for the fireworks display. Kansas City Renaissance Festival
Roam the village shops, feast on a turkey leg or watch knights joust at Kansas City’s annual festival. The opening weekend of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival offers plenty of entertainment for the whole family with musical acts, history exhibitors and special competitions. Lawrence’s Grinter Farms is known for its breathtaking field of sunflowers, and this year’s flowers are expected to bloom this weekend. The farm is free to visit, and guests can take a sunflower for the road for a small fee of $1. Yogis in the Outfield
Head to Kauffman Stadium bright and early for an hour of yoga in the outfield starting at 7:30 a.m., sponsored by Kore Movement. A ticket to Sunday’s event includes yoga instruction, a free yoga mat, breakfast at Rivals and a seat to watch the Royals face the Detroit Tigers at 1:15 p.m. For prices and event information, click here.
Run your way through the streets of Westport in the inaugural Dash-N-Dine race, which you can enter as an individual or as a relay team.
