Rye Celebrates Four Years
December marks two celebrations for the staff and customers at Rye in Mission Farms. On December 17, Santa will make a stop at brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The jolly old elf will be available for photos with the kids while the family enjoys brunch. Reservations are recommended.
December 22nd marks the fourth anniversary of Rye, and owners Megan and Colby Garrelts welcome loyal guests to stop in for lunch, dinner or dessert to celebrate four years of local, Midwest cooking.
Gram & Dun Executive Chef Awarded Gilbert Robinson Award
Nathan Nichols, the executive chef at Gram & Dun, has been named the “Rising Star of the Year” by the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. Each year, the association honors the past, present and future of restaurant industry leadership at the Gilbert-Robinson Leadership and Awards Dinner.
Nichols has been with Gram & Dun since 2011. His dedication to innovation shines through in his daily specials and menu creations. Prior to joining the team at Gram & Dun, Nichols spent time at several other Kansas City establishments, including Trezo Mare and Bluestem.
Summit Grill and Bar Finds New Home as Bru Comes to Life
Summit Grill and Bar–Waldo owners, Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy, have moved the restaurant to the former 75th Street Brewery site at 520 W. 75th St. The duo first announced plans in April to expand Summit–Waldo into the new space and open a ramen concept. Lock and Molloy, along with their culinary director, Po Wang, and executive chef, Thomas Paradise, will open Bru Ramen Bar in the former Summit–Waldo locale in mid-December.
Summit–Waldo has more than doubled its size to 8,800 square feet, compared to its former 3,300 square feet space. The new location has one asset the old Summit–Waldo venue was missing, a large private dining room, which seats up to 54 guests. The restaurant is currently accepting reservations for the new private dining space during the holiday season.
