The Arts and Crafts home of Johnny and Susan Hart is a classic beauty, but even the most stately grand dames like to have a little fun. “I wanted to use red and green, but I wanted the decorations to feel friendly, fun and upbeat,” says designer Randy Neal.
He relied on a traditional “Christmas” red, but combined it with a softer green and allowed the natural foliage to bring a stronger shade. Traditional stockings are hung by the chimney with care, but red roses accented with holly berries and pine add an unexpected dash. Playful oversized glass-ball ornaments that climb the stair railing set a celebratory tone for holiday visitors. “Susan gave me the freedom to do what I wanted. We had a great time working together,” Neal says.
